Ferry to the Hermitage by judithg

Ferry to the Hermitage

On another hot sunny morning we rented a rowing boat for a little trip down the pretty River Coquet. Things were a little meandering when I was in charge of the oars but it was lovely and there was a dipper flying up and down the peaceful water (peaceful when Monty wasn't barking). There is a little ferry that takes visitors from the castle across to the Hermitage. It's an odd structure, half built from stone and half hewn from rock in the late 14th century and currently closed to visitors while English Heritage ponder it (as far as I can tell). Anyway - intense colours - no processing again here.
Gorgeous composition and reflection... great focus!

I was disappointed to read that the hermitage is closed at the moment when we were googling, but I fancy a little boar trip anyway! Great photo!

@roachling We didn't go last time when it was open (I think) - looks a bit odd and claustrophobic to me. Boats were good value though. There were a couple of ladies swimming with their dog in the river but apart from that it was just us.

Very serene.. love your composition here. Do Nigel or Adam have any of the boating genes?!?

@bpaquette Yes - though we all sort of wanted to stand up and pole the boat rather than row it!
