The blues at Embleton Bay were absolutely breathtaking. Shame I hadn't instructed Nigel to gaze out at the passing yacht but he was at least colour co-ordinated. He did venture in for a swim but he said, "I assumed when I started swimming that it would feel warmer - it didn't!' The beautiful ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle are over to the right hand side - and I'm sure they will feature at some point. It was absolutely boiling on our walk over from Craster and we were anxious about the dog especially after an old lady had looked at us appalled as we passed her in mid-conversation with a neighbour about how, 'dogs should not be out'. We had a lot of drink stops and he wanted to start 'hooping' as soon as we hit the beach so he was fine - it would be heaven to have that walk on your doorstep. If the stunning views and history aren't enough you can also look out for seals and seabirds. I will be back-filling photos slowly - in between loading the washer - and catching up with all of you ASAP.
Three good things:
1. My photos are dominated by intense blue skies.
2. It's a cooler day today for Rachel's punting/ dog walks etc.
3. I think I'm finally shedding my cold...
Blimey that cold has lingered hasn't it? Glad it's on the wane. We stayed in that area a few years ago (Low Newton next the Sea) it rained almost constantly but is was such a beautiful place nonetheless.
@jantan Oooh that's a shame - we were supposed to get to Low Newton for lunch but I had underestimated the effect of the heat making the distances seem longer and although Nigel and I would have been OK dog and daughter had had enough. Definitely shot straight into my top 10 beaches though.
@fueast Honestly I'm never bothering with Cornwall again - at least not in summer - I'm an absolute Northumberland convert - you are so lucky - you're half way there.
The beaches are indeed lovely round that area...my dads relations all come from Northumberland & I can understand why they are like homing pigeons when done working & travel back to live in this county! Cold must have been a real pain in that heat, Nigel makes a great model ....sort of brooding look!!
