Long term followers will know that I can't resist these... I was actually going to go for a 'before and after' collage of some river works but I've decided to go back and try and get a wider angle.
So I've been at a meeting tonight and I feel like something out of the ark. There was a discussion of all of the various electronic ways of receiving information from school. In the 'olden days' our children (if we were lucky) brought home a piece of paper (quel horreur) with dates and times on it and we wrote them down on calendars or in diaries and then we had to remember to look at these items and go to the events. Now it seems that despite having electronic gadgets that beep at you at regular intervals to alert you to your engagements, and websites that have information at the beck and call of every smart phone, the expectation to be reminded of your engagements is a great deal higher. I am clearly turning into a right old fogey.
Three good things:
1. A walk with my daughter.
2. A walk with my dog who did not stop every three paces and refuse to walk but trotted along quite happily.
3. I am doing the 5 2 'Fast Diet' and today is not a fast day. Yesterday was and it certainly heightens our appreciation of the food you are allowed to eat. I think I did quite well but I weigh the same which is a bit sad! Next fast on Friday...
So you Judith, always a winner! Was supposed to start my diet on Monday but we still have chocolates in the house! Monday for sure! She lies ........ Glad Monty is getting better that is great news
Such a you shot this, lovely. Try juicing anything and everything for a week, NO SOLIDS, that will kick start things and give you a nice surprise when you next step on the scales!!
nothing wrong with your usual Judith....you do your 'usual' well :) ...hey I know all about school comms and how teachers write electronic reports (we call them ROA's now...."record of achievements") ... all hinges on key members of the schools ICT and MIS dept you know :) ...like all ICT systems everywhere ...a bit smoke, mirrors and bits of string at times I might add :)
@judithg I know it sounds a bit extreme, but I did it, actually around the time I met you, never felt better or slimmer, can't say the same now sadly!!!
@phil_howcroft ah well you are doing proper secondary school stuff with an ict budget and expert staff (yourself!) - we are primary and the IT systems fall to people who have to learn as they go along. And the more you do for parents the more they want!
@judithg I see the dilemma Judith. Mind you 'inner city nottingham' parents may not be quite as demanding and as IT savvy as cambridge primary parents.
Nice shot Judith - I know what you mean about electronic gadgets. You can't go anywhere especially in a restaurant without people looking at smartphones. I did the 5:2 diet for a while and must give it a go again nearer the summertime. Every time I was on a fast day, Hazel kept posting pics of food!
Interesting school updates which luckily does not concern me.....I am of the letter from teacher era.
Lovely bike & basket...this lady needs a medal for giving you such lovely photos.... @jo13 You were very slim then Jo...I remember how tall & elegant you looked ....Judith was slim too so be blowed if you need to lose weight.
I must say I am on a sort of diet too.as I need to lose a couple of pounds before the swimsuit next month. Thought of the 5/2 diet but it sounded too hard. Trouble with me is I wake in the night hungry & comedown stairs to eat Weetabix.
@happypat I was worried about that but slept well -though I was dreaming about chocolate this morning! It's hard to work out what 500 calories looks like though. I bet @jo13 is still a whip - I've got fat!
I long for the days of paper. L's nursery texts me repeatedly, sometimes 2-3 times a day, with the most extraordinary stream of child-related mundanities 'Please bring a piece of fruit for your child to share at snacktime...The footpath behind the Centre is closed...Do you have a stripy shirt to donate to our nativity shepherds...There has been a case of lice in the Centre - please check your child." Argh
Love this archetypal @judithg bike shot.
All I can say about communication between school and home is: I'm glad I was in school in the days of paper communiques, especially when student behavior was the topic. Better chance of 'misplacement' before reaching the intended recipient. :)
Great close-up and pov. I thought I'd have another go at 5.2, having put back half the weight I lost on it before Christmas - but wasn't motivated beyond lunchtime and succumbed to a piece of leftover homemade caramel shortbread from Christmas. What a bad start!
Fasting and too much information? ooo nooo. You should go for a relaxing ride on your bike to nowhere important then stop on the way home for chips. And buy flowers.
Well done Monty; your shot is lovely, brill detail and textures; I was reading in last Sat's newspaper about the 4:3 diet which is apparently all the rage. You diet one day, eat what you want the next. On diet day you can have a meal of 400 calories and a snack of 100 calories.........
Lovely shot, well spotted. My friend has lost loads on the 5-2 diet, I think it started snowballing after a few weeks . Meaning to try it myself, Good luck :)

I'm trying 5:2 too, not sure how I'll get on

@jewelsandbinoculars blimey, text trivia overload...
