I love checking on newly sown seeds - the sudden appearance of green shoots is like magic. There may be a photo of those as well soon.
I've been at the vet again today - antibiotics and a new kinase inhibitor which is supposed to be excellent for de-itching dogs with few side-effects apart from making the owner very poor.
3 GT:
1. A 7-0 win in the hockey and a lovely afternoon to watch it in.
2. A new 'Quick Cryptic' crossword in The Times. It's like a training aid for the big cryptic crossword. I'd love to be able to do the cryptic clues but I don't understand all the tips and tricks that come from the wording and have never found a guide book. So I was very pleased to find there's an article in The Times that gives a few hints on that as well. On a good day I can answer two clues in the big version - in yesterday's 'idiots' version I could answer one... But in today's I've managed quite a few :0)
3. My meeting tonight was short so I have time to do some commenting.
The Times? I'm shocked. Could I recommend that you try the cryptic crossword in the Guardian...
Yes know what you mean about seeds. I'm going to get some in this weekend.
I was thinking of your Danbo today as I have to confess I have to purchased a Royal Mail bird house. I resisted the Danbo but enjoy seeing yours! I cans eve you are both busy with your seed preparation.
I hope Danbo's going to do all the watering! I planted some leeks on Sunday and they're coming through already.! I'm sticking to the concise crossword in the Independent - never could get on with the cryptic clues.
Poor old Monty has been in the wars. I absolutely love cryptic crosswords - there's a definite technique to it. I think the easiest ones are the Telegraph ones (which makes sense!) You can get them on your ipad I think
Oh I used to love cryptic crosswords (still do in theory, but the days of JB and I idling our Saturday mornings away outside a cafe with espressos, rolliies and the crossword are distant memories). There's a knack that totally makes sense, once you've got it. All the setters/papers have slightly different styles too. Try reading Pretty Girl in Crimson Rose (Balfour) for a gentle love affair with the crossword. You too Jan, if you haven't. @jantan
