New life by judithg

New life

I love checking on newly sown seeds - the sudden appearance of green shoots is like magic. There may be a photo of those as well soon.
I've been at the vet again today - antibiotics and a new kinase inhibitor which is supposed to be excellent for de-itching dogs with few side-effects apart from making the owner very poor.
3 GT:
1. A 7-0 win in the hockey and a lovely afternoon to watch it in.
2. A new 'Quick Cryptic' crossword in The Times. It's like a training aid for the big cryptic crossword. I'd love to be able to do the cryptic clues but I don't understand all the tips and tricks that come from the wording and have never found a guide book. So I was very pleased to find there's an article in The Times that gives a few hints on that as well. On a good day I can answer two clues in the big version - in yesterday's 'idiots' version I could answer one... But in today's I've managed quite a few :0)
3. My meeting tonight was short so I have time to do some commenting.
I love this time of year as will, and this shot reflects this new start, Can I ask, where did you get your Danbo?

The Times? I'm shocked. Could I recommend that you try the cryptic crossword in the Guardian...
Yes know what you mean about seeds. I'm going to get some in this weekend.

I was thinking of your Danbo today as I have to confess I have to purchased a Royal Mail bird house. I resisted the Danbo but enjoy seeing yours! I cans eve you are both busy with your seed preparation.

Not "eve" but 'see". I am so careless with my iPad keyboard.

Danbo is so cute!

@lucypics A Royal Mail nest box will look stunning with a thatch! It does look lovely even without birds sitting on it. :0)

@cookie123 From Amazon - some Japanese supplier - the cheapest 'proper' one I could find!
March 11th, 2014
@judithg went a bit mad on amazon and ordered a Robin nesting teapot for mum!
March 11th, 2014
@lucypics I was tempted by that but thought Nigel mig think I'd gone mad!

A great fun shot - nice to think that Spring is on the way

I hope Danbo's going to do all the watering! I planted some leeks on Sunday and they're coming through already.! I'm sticking to the concise crossword in the Independent - never could get on with the cryptic clues.

I need an army of Danbo's to help me rule the world hmmmmmmm
March 11th, 2014
So cute! I love Danbo's twine stepping stool. Congrats to Adam & Co on their win. And I hope you've closed in on relief for poor Monty!!
March 11th, 2014
Pleased that Danbo is keeping a horticultural eye on things, they are sure to flourish!
March 11th, 2014
Good shot.

Cute shot. I love the moment the green shoots start appearing. I enjoy cryptic crosswords but very much still learning to do them.

Its all going to happen! I like planting but am not good at picking and consequently I have cabbage leaves all over the garden!

this is lovely - great Danbo shot (I like cryptic crosswords - different setters use different clues and tricks)

Looks like Danbo is going to be a great gardening companion. I bet you are discouraged re Monty though

How nice of Danbo to help you :). This puzzle sounds like quite the training for the mind. Good progress, you :)!

Poor old Monty has been in the wars. I absolutely love cryptic crosswords - there's a definite technique to it. I think the easiest ones are the Telegraph ones (which makes sense!) You can get them on your ipad I think

a posh box for your seeds judith, nice blues mind you :)
March 12th, 2014
Gorgeous colours and composition and nice that you have a gardener to assist you :0) I hope the new medication works.

Oh I used to love cryptic crosswords (still do in theory, but the days of JB and I idling our Saturday mornings away outside a cafe with espressos, rolliies and the crossword are distant memories). There's a knack that totally makes sense, once you've got it. All the setters/papers have slightly different styles too. Try reading Pretty Girl in Crimson Rose (Balfour) for a gentle love affair with the crossword. You too Jan, if you haven't. @jantan
