I walked down Trumpington Street becasue the blossom trees that I photograph every year are absolutely at their prime. Sadly the light was poor and my exposure was all over (although it was much improved when I switched to manual) probably becasue my zoom lens doesn't really cope with difficult exposure - I did have my 50mm which would have solved the problem but I also had woofer in tow and he was being embarrassingly loud every time I stopped. Also the Fitzwilliam Museum is clothed in plastic which rather ruined the backdrop. So it's this young lady outside Pembroke College that is the shot of the day - I tried to move round a bit for a better angle but her friend crept up on her from behind before I got in position!
The shed people have got back to us with designs and we have spent the evening with tape measures and bits of paper all over the floor - all rather exciting.
Three GT:
1. A nice man who stopped for me and said, 'I didn't want to mess up your shot' - he was the least of my problems but it was kind of him.
2. A little trip to London tomorrow to take Adam to look round an art college - yikes I will have to wear purple.
3. Nigel is doing the hockey run in the dark and the rain.
Thank you all so much for the lovely comments and favs on Lucy's basket - made me happy :0)
Super shot Judith, the college doorways are always fascinating places to spot people going in and out and this obliging girl was standing still for you, making a very nice shot.
There's the bike - your particular icon and looking so good against that wonderful door! Lady is incidental but interesting! I like your woofer bit - isn't that part of a stereo?
Nice street capture, great pose! We were in Cambridge today for my birthday - went to see 12 years a slave. Not really a good choice for a birthday but I really wanted to see it. Great film but so tragic.
@busylady I saw that on the plane Judith....rather gruesome but glad I braved it...of course all slave owners weren't like that hopefully!
Love the turquoise trousers here.....I have some rather bright blue ones but didn't even take them to NZ , thought they were too bright , must be braver!
Beautiful composition as always ..love the way she is casually leaning looking round the pillar.
Lovely day in London tomorrow!
@busylady Happy birthday! Yes an amazing story - we were a bit close to the front - had to close my eyes a few times. Certainly gets you thinking and talking not least about how long it's taking to reach dull equality.
so very cambridge and so very judith :) . The student in the picture looks very stylish, perhaps you could borrow her leggings for your trip to art college tomorrow :)
Have fun in the 'hood. We're off out to the shires for the day. If you're coming into kings cross early doors, look out for the frazzled bag-people lugging a toddler and a travel cot the other way!
Funnily enough as we were standing coming home I thought there was an empty seat but it had a very small person sitting in it and I contorted myself a bit to check it wasn't L. And then I thought how freaked out you'd be if some weird woman recognised her so I was sort of relieved that it was actually a blonde haired boy!
Love the expectation in this shot ;).
I felt the same about accidentally meeting L at the playground when we went to London. But Little J is always recognized by "strangers" when she is out with my dad - I know those people of course but he doesn't so sometimes it's a bit weird for him ;).
