Rescue dog

Monty and I walked past this patient little dog on the way to our walk and just further up the street met a very concerned disabled man who said it has been tied up there for four hours. He had already explained the situation to a lady who was ringing the dog warden. We hung around a bit tutting about animal cruelty and then the lady discovered a mobile number on the dog tag and called it. About 30 seconds later a man came racing around the corner - he'd gone to the shop and forgotten that he'd tied up his dog. A middle-aged academic type - he got a real ear-bashing from the man in the wheelchair! There are some advantages to having an anxious dog - I couldn't possibly forget Monty unless I had sudden complete loss of hearing...
What a bloody idiot! I hope he wasn't an academic, getting us a bad name.

Poor dog! Glad he is back home. How can someone forget their dog?

And it's wearing the cone of shame poor thing

@fueast only academic TYPE!! your name is saved!! stupid bloody idiot though, deserves to be tied up for 4 hours with a horn over his head.............well done Judith!!

@fueast I fear he was - must be a historian....

@johnnyfrs @jenniferruge @fannyb And all the little fella did was wag his tail!

Oh my....what a story...a bit like forgetting to collect your child from school....done that! ( always on a wed when they finish unnecessarily early!!)
April 5th, 2013
Oh poor little thing ...it would think it had been abandoned! It looks even more pathetic because of that halo on it's head ..a sorry sight to start with........hope he went home with his tail between his legs...the silly forgetful man I mean!!
April 5th, 2013
That is sickening. What a dub that guy is. Oh, anytime I hear of a story of a dog getting abused or neglected it just makes me so sad.

@ruthmouch I nearly forgot to pick Rachel up because I was posting this! She still hasn't forgiven me for the time I left her at school. @happypat He was very embarrassed - the man in the wheel chair was reeling off ALL the reasons why he was a bad person and he just kept agreeing!

Poor thing!

@judithg poor little dog, I'm not a fan of those plastic thingies....not even sure what they are for!!!!.....quite entertaining besides the poor wee doggy I suppose!

Poor little dog, and with his collar of shame. Hopefully he wont do that again! I wont feel so bad about leaving Saski at home for 4 hours while I go to Cambridge (I fret about that!)
April 5th, 2013
@ruthmouch Yes I like a bit of drama but 4 hours was a bit long for the little dog!
April 5th, 2013
I love your way of telling us that Monty would give full voice to his unhappy position! I would like to clout this guy over his head!
April 5th, 2013
Oh my gosh, how could anyone forget that. Poor little dog. Gesh, some people!!
April 5th, 2013
What a patient dog, our two would have been howling the place down and as for getting one of those cones on....!
April 5th, 2013
Poor baby! My husband has just been reading about how wolves on their way to becoming dogs trained us rather than the other way around. I think this poor dog failed that test

I have so many dogs come through this house for visits that I often mis-count and leave one out - or look for it when it isn't there! Poor pup.
April 5th, 2013
It's a lovely picture, looks like a sweet dog behind the collar. Poor thing, What a long time in this cold weather. At least owner was found.
April 5th, 2013
@ruthmouch Ruth they really are a much needed thing for dogs with stitches that don't need to be licked out! Our dog had one once and it was a nightmare, he kept bashing into everything.

Awww bless :o) xx

Poor little guy. How clever that the lady discovered a mobile number on the dog tag.
April 5th, 2013
How could he miss him ...he's fitted with radar for goodness sake!

I've left a dog outsdie thinking it was asleep somewhere else in the house, but only for about half an hour. All of a sudden I heard a low 'woof' and realized the girl was sick of being outside. But leaving a dog at a STORE for four hours? Holy cow. Must be a very patient boy!
April 6th, 2013
I would never tie Molly outside a shop, lurchers for some reason are at high risk of being stolen! Poor little fella, I am sure the man will not do that again in a hurry!
April 6th, 2013
My first thought was, 'ah bless!' and then I read your commentary. The poor thing! I'm glad some one told his stupid owner off. He clearly doesn't warrant such a patient pet.
April 7th, 2013
Poor little thing!
April 7th, 2013
Poor little fella, but the man did sound as if he genuinely forgot, so I hope he has learnt his lesson and gave that lovely dog a nice treat.
April 7th, 2013
there is something quite funny about this (but only because there is happy ending) mind you, if I was this dog, I'm not sure I'd have wanted to draw attention to myself! wearing a cone of shame and even your owner wants to disown you...

Is there any sight more pathetic?
