this is the only shot i took today and i am posting it dAmmit
Heres the story... ususally when i take photos in the supermarket i shoot from the hip, but this being a sooc challenge i wanted to raise the odds of getting something in frame, so i raised the camera to my eye. This lady had just had a yawn which i of course missed but anyhoo, her supervisor came up to me and objected, saying it was illegal to shoot their employees without asking... I know it isnt, I checked when i got home, unless a place of business has a sign that tells you in no uncertain terms they do not allow photography in their premises they cannot stop you, as they have invited the public in, and even if there was such a sign in this supermarket, which i have never seen, the most they can do is ask you to leave for disobeying their rule, they cannot ask you to delete the picture or anything... so I'm posting it! ...
Good for you! You know your rights. I had a woman tell me they didn’t allow photos one time when I was taking an arty shot of cheese at her counter. Something about I could be a spy for a competitor. So ridiculous! If I want to remember something that looks good/interesting but I don’t want to buy right then, or I want to ask Frank if that’s what he wants, I take a picture with the iPod, it doesn’t mean I’m working for the other chain! But after that I look out for that woman before I bring out the camera. Sheesh! This captures the supermarket look well. Well done.
@mcsiegle i think lots of people take photos for that very purpose, Mary, when i think of how much money i spend in that place it makes me mad at the pettiness!
@helenhall i was very meek when face to face with the woman lol. i had to admit i hadnt asked the subject if she minded, not that she could say so in front of her supervisor !
Stand firm! This is not a disrespectful shot, it is life. Our everyday comings and goings are just as important as a planned event and often much more fun too.
It is sad, a very sad thing that society seems to jump first at and concentrate on the negative.
Keep taking/making images in spite of small minded people.
