At the National Geographic People and Places Workshop I recently attended, the two presenters talked a lot about light and how to work with it. There's a lot to be said about that, but suffice it for now to say that even the experts have to experiment a lot to get what they want. In other words, there's not an exact science for everything. In this piece, I wanted to capture the glory as realistically as I saw it, but this took a number of steps to achieve it. Right or wrong here's what I did: Chose 100 for the ISO setting, used a flash to focus on the blooms, then turned the photo upside down to apply the graduated tint effect to the reflection in the puddle. Then I added a touch of shadow. Again, this was to recreate as best as I could, the vividness of what I saw last night. If you have other tips to pass on to me, I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise, enjoy. :)
