Some might think this is a Monarch at first glance. The coloring and pattern of Monarch and Viceroy wings look nearly identical. However, a Viceroy has a black line crossing the postmedian hindwing.
Aren't they just beautiful - learned how to tell them apart finally last year. I see lots more of them than I do the monarchs. This is a beautiful shot. Just posted one, too.
