Decay and pattern

Fern leaves past their best but what fabulous surfaces there are in decay.

There are some interesting patterns in those leaves. A good opportunity to play with layers and textures, or perhaps get really close (use a magnifying glass if you don’t have a macro)?

I agree with John’s comment above, or you might want to consider extension tubes or a close up lens.
