This is a beautiful abbey built with that glorious Cotswold stone. Have you tried to straighten the image yet? You will loose a bit of the spire in the process, but it might look a stronger image.
@marshwader It is straight, note the stone cross. Sometimes Maddy you have to accept a photo as is. It was a great large building and I was fairly close. As 365 is just a ‘photo each day’ I do t have the time or inclination to faff about with editing as I would normally. I personally like the looming look of the abbey in this photo. This was shot using photo bracketing to control exposure.
@keeptrying I meant the verticals of the building! You will get this distortion if you are close. I accept that sometimes the photo is what it is and that you particularly enjoyed the effect of the Abbey looming towards you. The reason I suggested 365 to our group was to encourage not only photographing one image per day (which will include some images that are less successful), but also to encourage friendly critique and discourse. It is in that spirit that I have commented on your image.
I don't think you will get every upright vertical when you are that close, so would have to accept some convergence. Did you get some good photos of the ceilings? These are very impressive.
@sjoyce thank you Steve. Nice to get a positive comment. I didn’t go inside. I was taking a one to one lesson with a professional photographer that day, which helped me a lot actually.
