Red rocks, red sunsets, red politics, red cactus fruit and those white clumps on the cactus are Cochineal scale insects the source of the crimson dye carmine. Great shot!

Robert, I took the photo because of the scale insects (I thought my sister would enjoy)!! I didn't realize, however, that they were there source of crimson (red) dye!! That is pretty cool! Thank you for the information! I do appreciate it every time you tell me about something (like these insects)!
