Civil War Hospital by khawbecker

Civil War Hospital

The Union Methodist Episcopal Church pictured here was built in 1846. A plaque on the church states that it was used as a hospital and shelter for Union troops during the Civil War. The building became part of the George Washington University in 1985.

Beautiful! (Such a shame the modern building is behind it... reminds me of some parts of Seoul; beautiful historic building next to modern ones)

A very beautiful building with super architecture, a lovely capture and history with it. Now my soap box complaint, yes that is a wonderful modern building in the background but should never have been built next to the old hospital, huff!!

@otter @ladymagpie Thank you both! I agree that the modern building beside it is jarring. It looked even more intrusive in color.

Contrast of buildings accentuates contrast of light and shadow in the shot. Superb Karen!

@almondjoy1 Thanks, Joy. I found that shooting it B&W made the old and new complementary.
