Built in 1893, this cable car ride is one of the shortest and steepest railways in the world. It is also known as the Fourth Street Elevator. The building at the top has a lovely view of downtown Dubuque, Iowa, and the Mississippi River. See this photo for the view: http://365project.org/khawbecker/past-and-presen/2014-05-23
Great shot! My step daughter lived in Dubuque for awhile and this was the first place she took us when we went to visit! I think it is so cool that they keep it running.
