The grand building in the forefront is the Dubuque County Courthouse, built in 1891. The building behind the courthouse is St. Mary's Catholic Church, the construction of which began in 1864. Two additional church towers are visible against the green trees on the bluff--one of Dubuque's seven bluffs along the Mississippi River.
Nice historical documentation! The background against which the Church Steeple and Courthouse Tower stand out so brilliantly looks like a collection of green cotton balls or green cotton candy. Great shot Karen!
