I discovered these flowers in the Enid A. Haupt Garden at the Smithsonian this evening, but I have no idea what they are. There was no visible name plate for them either. They look like a tropical cherry blossom, which seems just right for D.C. in the summer.
I have since learned that this plant is a Double Rangoon Creeper. I love that name. It's apparently named for the double flowers that bloom. I've also learned that it's more fragrant at night than it is during the day.
