My paddling club does a lighted boat parade along the waterway at the club. These are a few of the entries this year. In the canoe on the right someone is dressed as a heron!

Great tradition, but sadly not one that the paddling community in Calgary can institute! You mention that you have taken up outrigger paddling; does that include racing? Which club do you belong to?
