I've known for a long time that snowflakes are six sided and that each one is unique, but it took this project to get me to take a really really close look at snowflakes - a sad statement when I've lived in Canada for well over thirty years! They are impressive in detail, beauty, and perfection.
Today's snowflake efforts made me really appreciate the power of my macro lens. Snowflakes are TINY! Even the big ones. And the fabric in this shot? Gortex - with a really small weave. And if I zoom in I can even see the fibers in each stitch. Another thank you to my awesome husband for a super Christmas lens!
Wonderful! Don't worry Kristin, this was the first year that I actually photographed snowflakes as well. You figure, being in Canada, that would have been one of my first shots! lol
Perfection, indeed! I've never had the chance to capture a snowflake by now! I think we have the "wrong" kind of snow here, do you think it's possible? It looks more like ice...
@velina ~ I think you need those snow days when they are just floating down, you know what I mean. When I got these ones, it didn't even look like it was snowing out, but there were just a few flakes floating down. I'd guess that humidity probably has a lot to do with it too. We are typically pretty dry.
Awesome picture - and ok, your husband too!
i tried it yesterday in fairmont
but i was too close heheh
you did a great job with this
Thank you for explaining, Kristin! I will have that in mind! :)
