I'm a part time teacher in a grade 2/3 class. Every week I complete an art project with the group of 21. Today we made crumbled leaves. I love this project and do it every year. The kids use tracers to make leaves, then they colour the entire paper with thick wax crayon. Next is the part I like the best... I take the first one finished and crumble their masterpiece into a tiny ball. You should see everyone's faces at this point. They can't believe I've destroyed their picture. I then proceed to open it up and put a light wash of black paint over top. The paint goes into the cracks created by crumbling paper and creates wonderful texture. I could never show the kids on here but I thought I'd include their art. This is a variety of pieces placed together.
@bardejov I just used cheap photocopy paper. It breaks down well so the paint can get in. It's also slightly smaller than standard construction paper which I mount them on afterwards.
Oh to be a fly on the wall and capture their Faces!! I love this art work ..i believe i did one myself in art a long time ago! Great colors and textures! A Masterpiece!
What beautiful colors and I love the project! My kids would love to do this for sure! I can just imagine the shock on their little faces when you crumpled the paper, lol!
pretty cool how it turns out...and I know you can't show the kids, but it would be so amazing to see the look on their faces when you crumble up their work...haha
The result is very nice !
