My husband had a companion ticket with Westjet so we figured we might as well go as far as we could. WestJet only flies to a handful of European cities so we picked Dublin. Only booked it two weeks ago!!
Nice ! Our son went 2 weeks when he finished highschool and came back, totally enamoured by the beauty of Ireland; he couldn’t stop talking about the scenery, the hiking, the whiskey, and the singing in the pubs....
Hope you have a wonderful time and looking forward to your photo’s of it ☺️
I lived in Dublin for 2 years and hiked the Kerry Way above the Ring of Kerry up in the mountains too, so I know all these places on your itinerary and they made me smile! Gallaghers at Temple Bar do great boxties and you should be able to find a pub playing live traditional music or even with dancers too. Quite a tourist hub at Temple Bar! Plenty of statues to enjoy too, like Molly Malone (known locally as "The Tart with the Cart!" We used to work at Guinness, you will love the Hop Store tour there. Enjoy Ireland! It may be a tad wet and windy at times, but it is all part of its emerald green charm!
I wish you a great trip in these magnificent landscapes. One piece of advice from experience, that you might not find in travel guides : you should give a thought beforehand on whether you want to drive the Ring of Kerry clockwise or counterclockwise. If you drive it clockwise, there is nothing between the car passenger and the magnificent sea views, while if you drive it counterclockwise, there will be the driver AND the other traffic lane between the passenger and the sea. This detail might have its importance when the passenger is a photographer.
Went a few weeks ago and stayed in Limerick, my wife was born in Limerick but we like the west coast of Ireland best, First time in Ireland I went to Cobh, this was in 1965 as a young Merchant Seaman and I have been back many times. Have a great time and have a drop of the Black Stuff.
Sounds like a great trip.
Hope you have a wonderful time and looking forward to your photo’s of it ☺️
