This time of year, hedges like this provide such bright relief from the relentless gray. I kind of liked the abstract nature of this, but it's not a composition I would normally choose.
BTW, we call these forcynthias, since my cousin (more like a niece) called them that when she was little. They come out at the same time as Cindy's birthday, which is today!
First thing I thought when I saw this was, L.A. Lakers! Purple and gold = winning combination! I am not a huge sports fan though!

We call them forsythia too. And I guess that is an azeala there in the middle. it is like the yellow hedge is giving the pink bush a protective hug....
@mainebrighteyes@espyetta The pinkish purple shrub is a pjm rhododendron. They are early blooming rhododendrons that have flowers that look like azaleas. They are very popular where I live.
