This photo was such a surprise to me. Today was beyond cloudy and dark - all day long. There was no sun and only a few slightly brighter moments. I wrote a story, did five interviews for future stories and was headed to our church to help my husband (who cooked it all) serve 150 ham and bean dinners to raise money for the youth group's mission trip.
When I got in my car to head to the fundraiser, I saw the sky and took a two minute detour to check it out at the beach.
After days of clouds and gloom, this was such a gift. The color only lasted about 10 minutes. Even as I was pulling out of the parking lot of the beach, the sky was already almost all gray.
Gorgeous sunset. Can't resist a beautiful sunset they make my day especially as I am getting out of work at 5:30pm and it’s already dark. Hope to catch one this weekend but for now I will gladly enjoy yours.
That's how it was with the sunset that I shot today....it was there looking all gorgeous, I shot it, and this it was all gray minutes later! Weren't the pinks fabulous tonight? This is really gorgeous, Laurie!
@peterdegraaff Oh Peter, thank you for the fave. I think you must have known just how much I needed this brief bit of beauty in my day, in my week. This color was so short and sweet that I would have thought I imagined it if I hadn't taken a photo.
@bkbinthecity They are going to South Dakota. My son has done two other mission trips like this closer to home and they have been so meaningful. He works along side kids from all over our country. Each group gets assigned one family and they paint, build decks and do other general repairs. Tonight we all worked like crazy, but we raised $1500!
@sarasdadandmom Terry, I think this brief gift from God was just to help me let my hard work day fall away so I could really appreciate the joy of working with a bunch of wonderful teenagers who happily gave up their Friday night to serve dinner to the families and elders in our church so they could raise money to go on a mission trip to do more good things for families in need in South Dakota next July. I needed a transition and as my pastor always says, "God is good all the time."
