Disappointed

Lately we've been having sea snow on and off, and today it was lovely, despite the gray skies. After lunch with a friend, I headed to Nauset Beach to take photos. This was my first photo of the day of over 100, but it spoke to me of a story. The writer in me can never resist a story. I'm guessing a very disgruntled Super Bowl fan left this baseball cap (???) on the bench...
@stepheesue Did I guess corrrectly? I'm not a football fan, but I know San Fran lost. Why do football fans wear baseball hats of their favorite teams? Sports are such a mystery to me.

Yes, it does tell a story. Boy does it look cold!

It could be summer and sand but is probably winter and snow! Lovely photo composition!

oh the superbowl is getting bigger here, it gained lots of media attention especially when there was a blackout! BTW this is a fav, i can't imagine snow on the beach x

Jo
A lovely simple shot, very effective.

It made for a wonderful photo opportunity, and I would think too if it was a 49'r, the hat probably went flying after the word of losing was out.

A simple and effective communication of the story -- or at least, the imagined story! I wonder how the red would impact the overall if you cropped a bit of the bench out and had more sea sand background to allow the 'grief" to air?

It really makes you wonder. Great shot!

Great shot. Lovely composition.

haha! we wear the team's logos and colors to show our ardent love and support of same. this image tells it all. a forlorn Niners fan, sat in the snow, sobbed, and shuffled slowly away. . .leaving the remnants of his hope for this year. Next year will be another. . . :)))))

@jyokota Excellent suggestion, Junko! I didn't really think about it when I was snapping. I was just drawn to the red, but I do think it would tell a more subtle story if I had shot it the way you suggested.

@stepheesue That's pretty much how I pictured the story too, Stephanie!

what a great story, you may be right too! I really like the way you composed this, with the bench coming from the corner of the image. very nice!

@lauriehiggins They wear baseball hats, because they would look silly wearing football helmets.

Beautiful shot. Love the pop of red.

@webfoot I don't know about that, Paul. A teenage girl from my church wore a football helmet to church on Sunday and she looked adorable. I'm not sure everyone could pull off that look, though. Thanks for the laugh!

@lauriehiggins -- I am learning so much from YOU and from this community and I always appreciate it when others leave me something to think about - so that's all I was trying to do. Your photo is beautiful as is, too, but why not have another (and more) variations, right? :)
