Another weekend, another blizzard. Honestly, this is not the kind of weather my area usually gets. Last weekend we had no power, no heat and seven people to feed and care for, so I didn't get a chance to take many photos. Turns out I didn't miss much. It's really hard to take photos in a blizzard because your lens is covered with snow/water spots after just 10 seconds. This is Main Street in my town.
You were brave to go out yesterday in all that wind! I stayed in trying to stay warm, listening to the wind howling and the snow blowing every which way! Now they're saying more snow next weekend - yuck!
@espyetta Brrr, indeed! Your question about food made me laugh, MaryBeth. I am a total foodie and write a weekly recipe column for my local newspaper. I'm also a camper, so I cooked a giant pork butt in a cast iron pan in my fireplace and we dragged our Coleman stove out of the attic, which gave me two burners. We ate really well, but it took alot of time. Plus I had to boil water for dishes. It was like camping in our living room. We even played board games by kerosene lamp and candlelight. It would have been more fun if we weren't so cold.
@sparkleplenty1 Hi Joyce! Are you back? I'm going to have to go check. Yes, my kids told me the same thing about another storm next weekend. Sheesh, this winter has been brutal.
Better to get the storms out of the way in Feb. than in March. I remember a big snowstorm we had April Fools Day 1982 when I was 9 months pregnant and wondering how I would get to the hospital if the kid came early!!! So you need three wood stoves, one in the basement, one on the first floor and one on the 2nd floor. That is what we have but our power was only off for about 20 minutes. This is a great b&w that gives a moody "get thee gone winter" look about it.
@lauriehiggins Hi Laurie! I wish I could say I'm back on a regular basis, but I was sick most of January with pneumonia - it's really taken a lot out of me. Missed a lot of school - I came back for one day last week, and then we were out of school with the blizzard. Came back last Wednesday, and now I'm on Feb. vacation. We've got our MCAS tests coming up in March and we're all panicking about how we can get the kids ready in time.
