Bar-tailed Godwit - Kitty Miller Bay, Phillip Island by lbmcshutter

Bar-tailed Godwit - Kitty Miller Bay, Phillip Island

(pretty sure it is the godwit) - I enjoyed watching the wading birds, the sooty oyster catcher, white faced herons and a few others were around, but only this little one allowed me to get close enough in the late afternoon light to get a semi-decent shot, he co-operated by turning into the sun

Migrates from Alaska to Australia and New Zealand, they have been tracked and it is believed to be the longest non-stop flight of any bird
A very handsome fellow!
