The Grist Mill is located in Babcock State Park in West Virginia. It is considered one of the most photographed places in the state, especially in the fall. Wanting to try and capture it in a different way and having no ideas using double exposure I thought lets zoom the lens. I have a ND10 filter on the lens (it's black) you need to focus and compose your shot before adding the filter to the front of the lens because once on you see nothing. The reason for the filter is so you can slow the shutter speed and not end up with no picture because there's too much light. It was noonish and full sun with no clouds when I took this yesterday. Just a little post processing to bring out the fall color and feel. While I had a lot of throw aways, I do love this one.
Zoom burst was the perfect choice for this photo! It puts all the focus on the mill!
Thanks for the link as well. It sounds like a really interesting place and I feel was worth the time you spent to get there. Did you bring home any ground meal?
@grammyn the article is from 2010 . I can't believe this mill is still working. You can walk inside and see how it was setup. I only stuck my head in and glanced around. We did spend some time in the gift shop yesterday and I didn't see any ground meal. I need to do more research.
