Today's morning walk was full of a colorful carpet of leaves. This one really stood out being a star. I googled how to identify a tree by its leaf and yes there's an app for that (LeafSnap Tree identification). If it's correct this beauty belongs to the American Sweetgum. Sweet gum is one of the valuable forest trees in the southeastern United States, and is a popular ornamental tree. So there you go, A nice way to start my Tuesday. We got 1 1/2 inches of rain last night. I bet the trees loved it.
