When Walls Talk , I Listen

After taking the dogs to the park I headed out on this overcast morning to the Mission District looking for Street art. It's definitely not hard to find. I thought they might make a nice collage.
@julzmaioro your captures inspired me to go looking

@darsphotos they will probably have a cold theme to them...brrrr
January 15th, 2015
@lesip Sounds like it is so cold at home. A big adjustment after a month away in SF. I look forward to your photos. My 24" Mac desktop computer shut itself off this morning while in iPhoto so let it sit, texted my son, then turned it back on. Took time to turn back on so have not attempted to use iPhoto at all until my son can check it out tomorrow (Thursday). Hoping it is ok. I back it up a couple times a week to an external hard drive so he will check that to make sure it has my info and photos and check my computer as well.

@darsphotos hope it's okay. Do you think there are too many photos on IPhoto now and that's why it's so slow and having problems? I don't know if it would make a difference but that's my thoughts.

@lesip My son did not have time to check it out so have to wait till his day off, Wednesday. It worked ok today but it is not working the same every day. I have a lot of photos and have had problems in the past with the first photo not wanting to be scrolled by. iPhoto ends up going in a spin. My son did check out storage and that is not a problem yet, so not truly sure. Thanks for your input. Do you put and keep all of your photos on your computer? I will have to do some cleaning up as I know there are photos I do not need on there and see if that helps.

@darsphotos when I got this new laptop months ago I got a small hard drive that plugs into it. All my pictures are on that drive and not my computer. I do need it plugged in to the computer to be able to see them but they aren't taking up any space on my computer. The drive is about the size of my hand and less than an inch thick. So far so good and it's all backed up to a drive that sits in the house. First thing I did today when I finally opened my laptop was back up all the San Francisco pics.

@lesip My hard drive is small as well, about the size of my hand that I backup my desktop to right now. How do you not keep your photos on your computer and use them? I plug my hard drive into my computer too and let my computer back up to it and then eject it. So, do you delete the photos off your laptop after you are done? I make folders in iPhoto that I refer to a lot of the time or create to send like the photos to you, made a Leslie folder so I could easily send them to you from my computer. I keep videos on my computer too, on my desktop and back them up to my external hard drive. I have no clue as to how to use my photos from the external hard drive. Any input from you is greatly appreciated as it may be all the photos that I have on my desktop causing this problem.

@darsphotos I use lightroom and when I bring the photos from the SD card into my computer it is setup to load them on my external hard drive and lightroom knows they are there and uses them. I really don't understand the ins and outs of my computer. My husband, son, and photo friend helped me work it out so the photos don't sit on the computer. My old laptop is loaded with pictures.

@lesip Thank you, Leslie. Well, I do not have Lightroom but will have the help of my son this week, I hope on his day off. I got the external hard drive so that I can backup my photos in the event that anything happens to my computer. I do not understand all the ins and outs either. I have an old laptop that cannot hold my photos but my son has one that he added memory to (I think that is what it is called) and will loan me that as he never uses it any longer. May be what I need to do for now. It is really good to have photos in more than one place in the event that something happens to a computer or hard drive. I do not know about you, but I have a hard time getting rid of photos other than the obvious ones. Making folders takes up room too. There sure is a lot to know and nice to have others to help.
