Captured on my way home today, because I wondered if any other areas have this tradition. If you are traveling on a 2 lane highway or road and a funeral procession approaches, it is customary for the cars on the other side to pull over and stop, out of respect, until the final car in the line passes. I wish I could thank the first car (who pulled over as the hearse went by) and the teenage girl, who came up about 90 seconds after I had stopped...she was clearly confused at first, but pulled right in behind me and waited. It's been 22 years since my father died and I can still remember watching cars and trucks and motorcycles line up as we drove slowly by. I was so glad to see this tradition continued today.
We don't do it in the UK. But what a lovely thing to do, such a small gesture but if its something you remember after all those years it shows how much it means to the family and friends on the day.
