Kentaro by lisabell

Kentaro

The horrific events of the day reminded me of a Japanese family that used to live next door to us. They were only here for a couple of years while the father worked at a local Honda plant. They had a twelve year old son named Kentaro that barely spoke English, but he still enjoyed coming over to visit us. My daughter was in kindergarten at the time, and he made this workbook for her so she could practice speaking and writing Japanese. He made a little origami kimono and glued it to the front. We had so much fun learning about him and his family. He was such a sweet kid, and he would come over in his wooden sandals, which he took off outside the door, and and he would teach us origami or bring us Japanese candy.

I’m thinking of Kentaro and his family today and hoping that they are safe.
So cool Lisa
