Today I received two postcards - one from Germany and the other from Russia. Thanks to @mrssmith I joined Postcrossing.com which is an international postcard exchange. So far I’ve sent 23 postcards and received 24 from all over the world. I still hurry to my mailbox to see if a new one has arrived, and get excited when I’m notified that one I’ve sent has been received. They come with beautiful pictures of places I’ll most likely never visit with interesting stamps that reflect local culture or wildlife, and have written notes from people who are often very different from me, but ultimately so much the same. At the risk of sounding cliche’, the experience has made me see that it’s a small world after all.
@wrodgers Great! It’s so much fun. I know you’ll love it! It might take a couple of weeks to get your first card, but then they start coming fairly regularly as long as you keep sending them out, too.
FAV! I have never heard of this postcard exchange before! Now I want to do it! I had several pen pals throughout middle school and high school and it was so much fun. I like the composition of this shot.
