When it comes time for my job interview at National Geographic, I’m going to have to be honest with them up front and tell them insects and arachnids are not my thing. Although this little guy is somewhat handsome, the proximity in which one must shoot them is quite unnerving. It is especially so when the subject has woven his web next to the air conditioning unit which is blowing the web wildly back and forth. I had to wedge my tripod between some tall shrubs and the air conditioner with the fan of the AC whipping my hair and the spider every which way. I was hot and sweaty and my heart was racing as I peered at him, magnified to monstrous proportions by the macro lens. At any moment he could have been flung at me. When I really think about it, this couldn’t have been much different than stalking a big cat on the Serengeti or staring down a grizzly bear in the Rockies. This is going to look good on my resume’!
O.M.G. if that thing even moved a muscle when I was trying to take a pic that "up close" I think I would have jumped out of my shorts! heck I'd hire ya :) great addition
