Katy is moving into the dorm tomorrow at IU. Coming along for the ride is Cuddles, her teddy bear. Cuddles was originally my bear, but once when Katy was upset that her dad was going on a trip, he kissed and hugged Cuddles and told Katy that Cuddles would pass them along to her while he was gone. Cuddles has been on many vacations, gone to slumber parties, watched scary movies, and has even taken a few spins in the washing machine when he was trapped in the bedding. Now Cuddles is off to college. I hope they both enjoy the trip.
That is precious, my oldest, who would be going off to college this year, but chose not too, and is joining the military instead, has his bankie and still has it out. It is one precious thing that I will hold onto for the rest of my life. Good luck to both!
i will be thinking of you tomorrow!
i really love this shot:) brenna took her favorite stuffed whale named janette when she went off to college. so your photo, hits my heart:)
Awwww. Sweet shot. I took a favorite stuffed animal with me when I went away to college. Your shot touches my heart. When my son went away to college for the first time, I did something special the day after he left. I will be thinking of you tomorrow. May you be able to do something special just for yourself that day, so it is a special day for both of you.
Oh, this just tugs at my heart... I picture Izzy going off to school with Brown Bear in her back pack. So bittersweet, but I do love the photo. ((((hugs))))
We dropped our oldest off there on Sunday. But I'm driving back down to IU tomorrow to bring down a few extras that we forgot/didn't think of in the first place and to go to the family stuff with him. Oh, and the stuffed animal I took to college with me was a hippo. His name was Roch. :o)
My mom gave me her Teddy Bear (whose name was Puggy) and I brought him to college with me. He earned his PhD in life there. If you'd like to see his picture he's in my Themes and Competitions Album on July 7th. Your shot brings back good memories. Like Puggy, Cuddles will be an anchor and a reminder that there is always someone who loves her back home. A sweet shot and touching sentiment.
@robinwarner It's a gorgeous campus. I'm looking forward to spending a little time visiting over the next couple of years. I'll post some photos for you. You're aware there is no ocean here, right? :)
@cmansinon I would think watching your child leave for the military
Would be even harder since contact is more limited. I remember my mom's face as my brother left on a plane for San Diego for bootcamp for the marines.
Oh my gosh...my oldest daughter became attached to my old bear, Fred, at an early age. Fred went to UGA with Elizabeth and still gets packed in her bag for business trips and vacations. This is such a priceless and poignant shot. Excuse me while I sniffle and wipe my eyes......
@peggysirk I love your story and that the bear is still accompanying your daughter! At first I wondered if she would be considered "uncool" to bring the bear, but she plopped him on her pillow on her bunk without shame.
