Francis Shailer - First Settlers in Logan

This sandstone sculpture is dedicated to Francis Shailer.
The above plaque reads:
In 1866 the Shailer Family were amongst the first settlers to arrive in the Logan District. Catherine & Francis Shailer began farming & specialised in citrus fruit. Francis became a School Teacher at the Slack Creek Provisional School. In 1991 the Family was permanently commemorated when the suburb became Shailer Park.
Just a piece of local history I came across.
As you can imagine, I love the stack of books! What a honor to have a community named for your family. Great collage.

@allie912 - We have driven past this a few times, but never had the chance to stop because of the busy road it is on. We were surprised when we read the plaque.
