My get-pushed challenge from Miss Mercy (@missmercy) this week was to tempt her with shiny pretty things - "jewellery, crystal and copper and their beautiful sparkles and reflections" because she loves looking at, and collecting these objects.
On the right you can see the vinegar jug my parents received as a wedding present in 1948. Do you know anyone these days who would use a Stuart crystal jug for every day table use for 50 years?? It was used for almost every meal - not to impress or because they were sooo refined - but because they could not afford to buy a second jug! I love it - because of all the years I had no idea it was not a cheap glass one, and that it survived such loving use in a large family for over 50 years without any damage at all!
I have never tried to photograph crystal before - and I discovered there are so many variables with the reflections and colour that made the composition and shot really challenging.
@lwain I am indeed delighted. :) Lynn, you've produced another gorgeous shot. I love your composition as the off kilter angle actually makes you want to turn your head and see if the sparkles change. Beautiful.
