We have a place close by where we can see about 100 eagles (maybe not that many!) along the Des Moines River. The river isn't completely frozen so they are gathered there to go fishing. It is along a busy highway so not easy to take pictures but I walked out on the bridge today determined to get some pictures. I thought the wind gusts were going to knock me over, but it was worth it! I added the background with PicMonkey.
OMG beautiful!! I watch the Decorah Eagles on live cams over the Internet! We live very close tot he Hudson River, so we see a few here too. Not as many as you I am sure! Fav!

I never tire of seeing these magnificent birds...every single time I see one my heart starts to pound and I cuss myself for not having my camera with me. Awesome capture...not always easy to get good focus when in flight.
@jyokota I don't think there used to be many eagles around but the last few years, the eagle population has really grown. This is the first year I have seen them up close like this.
@lynnz -- it's been years since I lived in Iowa, and I wasn't much of a photographer then so perhaps I didn't notice, or as you say, they just weren't around then. Now, my eyes are focused on any photo opportunity!
