We see a few herons here in Iowa, but not many. I was thrilled to get a few good shots with my new Sigma 100-400mm lens. Couldn't get a shot like this before.
Didn't know you were in Iowa. I wouldn't think there'd be too many herons there. Not too many here, but I did see one in July while hiking. Everything was beautiful. The bird, the setting. But I only had my point'n'shoot with me and the lens could not zoon in far enough without losing detail. Your shot holds up very nicely and I love the reflection in the water.
