Mysterious...

Fun with a cardboard box and a worklight first thing in the morning :P

For the 52 portraits of me week 6 theme, which is 'mystery'. Had fun making this but some of the results were downright scary... not what you want to see before you've had your coffee... I'll be coming back to this idea for the 'creepy' and 'disturbing' themes later in the year ;)
Brilliant- fav!

Hi Mel, Please take this as flattery. A friend and I are trying to recreate what you've done here, was there much post processing, or have we got to achieve reproduction with a box and a flashlight LOL!

@rookynook LOL, well the only post processing was in Silver Efex pro (nik collection), the high contrast preset. The rest was indeed with a box and a flashlight! I have a very bright work light that gives off a sort of striped light because it has two strips of separate led bulbs, and I placed it in a cardboard box with a lid, leaving just a little gap. Then I just positioned it at face level and moved around until the light was falling where I wanted it.

I reckon you could get all sorts of cool effects by cutting shapes into cardboard or shining the light through things. I made a similar one a while back by shining a light through the slots in a large spatula thing lol

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. We think it is truly creative and such an amazing effect.

@rookynook Thank you! Here's the link to the one I did before, it was a lot simpler to achieve, if you've got any kitchen utensils with gaps or slots in them, that's all I used here with a small bright led light :)
