The village where I live is about to be destroyed by the widening of the roads to accommodate an extended bus corridor. It will swallow up dozens of resident's gardens in compulsory purchase orders, and we'll lose hundreds of trees, some of which are hundreds of years old. Volunteer groups have been tying red ribbons around the trees in question, in order to raise public awareness.
