Pride by marilyn

Pride

28 November - One of our area TV stations sponsors a Christmas "Treats 2 Troops" program with people donating small treats, phone cards and thank you letters that the station employees then pack into boxes to be sent to deployed troops. We have an alumni who works there so she always lets us know about it and our kiddos write letters for the boxes. This morning our principal sent the following email to the staff:
"Just wanted to share that Oakesdale School was on KREM 2 news this morning (6am) thanking us for sending letters/cards for the "Treats for Troops" program they are sponsoring. They had the letters on the news desk and showed some of them to display how well done they were. Yahoo!"

Today I am both thankful and proud that I am a part of this school!

Way to go everyone, and that will mean so much to our troops overseas.

@hjbenson @deburahiru Thanks... I think one of the many benefits of a small school is getting students of all ages involved in activities/programs that maybe only one class in a big school might take part in. School-wide things are much easier in a small school... fewer layers of bureaucracy make it easier to get more groups involved. :) Plus we are a caring community and school and want to keep that alive in our kiddos!
