Female Great Spotted Woodpecker ( Dendrocopos major) pausing whilst using the bird feeder. However it was not me taking pictures of her that disturbed her. There was another Woodpecker hammering away at a tree just above my head that drew her attention away from the peanuts. Shortly after she had flown off a male arrived on the feeder so guess that was who she had been watching. While this was going on, a Fox walked past, within 6 feet of me, seemed not to have noticed me sitting still.
Great image ,and the reflection in the eye is super when viewed in large So good of you Mark to share all this wonderful diary of event with us - it gives so much more interest & meaning to the image .
