RED LILY BEETLE  by markp

RED LILY BEETLE

Spotted this rather bright mini-beast in the garden and found him quite easy to identify. He is an invasive alien from Asia, a Red Lily Beetle (Lilioceris lilii ), first found in the UK in 1943 it is now widespread across the country. It probably entered the country on imported Lilies.

Great capture! I have some on my lilies every year. A few days ago I took a face picture of one of them (not good enough to post, though) and I realized they are extremely ugly!!
