Technically, this is most definitely not my best shot today. However on another level, it most definitely is.
Little Grebes are not built for life on land, and rarely come ashore, apart from during the breeding season when they have to visit their nests. Most of the time they spend bobbing around on the water, looking like little balls of fluff. They are expert divers, and eat small fish, and aquatic invertebrates.
So it is very unusual to see one, waddling rather ungainly around on land, let alone two !
And then being able to get a photograph of them.
So very happy with this shot.
