He knew I was there, and was watching and thinking could he eat his dinner safely ? He decided he could.
However I was not the real danger, out in the garden today, I heard a commotion and walked down the garden, as I reached the big old Apple tree, a big female Sparrowhawk took off carrying a male Blackbird in its talons. The Blackbird was not dead and was struggling and managed to break free and it dropped and shot into a huge thorny Pyracantha bush. The Sparrowhawk landed in a near by tree and watched for a while then flew off. I am on the look out for a tatty looking lucky Blackbird.
Lets hope the blackbird was lucky enough and was not too badly damaged -- we have also a sparrow hawk hovering around as I mentioned in my today photo ! This is a fab glose up shot -- so much sharp detail !
What a perfect shot - Fav. Poor little blackbird. Sparrowhawks can be viscious and I know it's nature but sometimes it does seem cruel. I can almost hear the screams of the blackbird as it struggled to get away
