The wind and rain had battered down a few Crocus, so I collected a couple and brought them inside and took a few shots with them.
Todays useless information, parts of the orange style (at the front of the shot), and the three stigmas ( the curly bits, further back) are the bits collected from the Saffron Crocus, from which the spice Saffron is obtained.
It takes over 70,000 flowers to get one pound ( 0.45 kilo) of Saffron, and they are all handpicked.
One last thing, have you spotted the photo bomber ?
I had seen him, but decided to leave him there as I took these shots.
Look closer still, and spot the raindrops.
Ah yes a tiny little white bug! That's the glory of macro! Love the textures on the styles here. You must have had some bad weather...here in Suffolk we've had no rain at all......
Love the photo bomber. I'd never noticed just how many teeny tiny insects live in my garden till I started taking macro shots of my flowers. Kind of makes me wonder how many I've inhaled over the years, while taken a big sniff of some beautifully scented flowers.
Fabulous macro - the detail on the styles is fantastic (and the info is quite interesting) No problem spotting the water droplets, but took a second peek to find the little milky bug. Terrific shot. Fav
