I knew something was going on when I spotted these two Dunnocks flying onto facing Gorse branches. The male, on the right, then proceeded to perform an elaborate courtship display. He fluffed out the feathers on his chest, made himself look twice his normal size. Then started some sort of crazy feathered semaphore messages waving his wings up and down, backwards and forwards, singly and paired. The female responded occasionally by waving her wings, but in a much more sedate manner. After a couple of minutes of this, the female flew off, chased by the male.
