Got up this morning, went down and opened the curtains. Switched on Mac and logged in. Then as I was going out to make a coffee, I spotted through the back room window a visitor. She was perched right out side the window on a branch I had placed to try and get Robins and other small birds on.
She was a bit bigger than a Robin, and stayed there for quite a while, eyeing up the strangely quiet feeders.
Eventually she stretched up straight and stiffened, she had seen something. She took off, down the garden, via a swift dodge up towards a feeder, then stopped on a stump and flew away.
Whether there was anything on the feeder, and if she got it I don't know, her body hid it. However, I didn't see any loose feathers or hear a squeal so I am guessing not.
In case you don't know, she is a female Sparrowhawk.
Wow what a wonderful surprise! So pleased she didn’t get any of your little birds. I know she probably flew off for her next kill but I don’t like to see it! Magnificent bird though! Well caught! Fav!
