@Dawn Thank you Dawn. I can't remember exactly. It is a while ago. It was always in the garden and got very tame. I would sit with a coffee and throw food down onto the floor for him. Sometimes he landed on my foot, and one day I just decided to try hand feeding him, and he soon got used to it.
Now he follows me around the garden and makes himself known when he wants feeding. If I am in the house he will use a different perch depending whether I am in the kitchen or back room, so I can see him and know he wants feeding again.
At the moment he is very busy, as he has got a new partner. This is his third year ( at least), of feeding from my hand.
Part of the spring courtship display which seems to go on for a few weeks, is that the male ( Scruff), feeds the female just like the adults do for the chicks. This is how I know Scruff is the male.
So this time of the year, he takes the food from my hand, flies over to the female, feeds her, then he's back again. He does this several times, then she seems to have had enough and then he feeds himself.
If I am around, this can happen a few times away.

@gardencat Thanks Joanne, yes it does, their posture can vary quite a bit, and they can look very different at times.
