I posted another image of this Black Headed Gull in February, titled MR 225B. He is part of a coloured banded survey to try and discover where these birds get to, once they leave their breeding areas.
I have reported any of these that I have spotted, to the online reporting service.
I got an interesting email yesterday, from the people conducting the survey.
I photographed him in Widnes on the 10th of February. Apparently, he was still in the Cheshire, UK area till at least the 8th of March.
On the 17th of March, he was found in Kaunas, Lithuania.
That is about 1,100 miles as the crow flies, so he had to have travelled at least 120 miles a day !!
