@blueberry1222@helenhall Thank you, Krista and Helen. Sorry for the delay in replying. The arches are carrying the main Liverpool to London railway, just to the right of this image is the bridge over the river Mersey.
They started work on this viaduct ( on the southern bank), around 1863, and an even more impressive one on the northern bank. The railway line opened in 1865.
The date on the front of the church, above the door, but not very clear from this angle is 1888. So they built the church after the arches.
